This workshop focused on developing skills to help us make decisions and teaching some concrete strategies to use when we need to shift our brain to focus on how we can move forward. We were also joined by Natasha, a young deaf hairdresser. She spoke to our students about the decisions she made after leaving school and how they led her to completing her hairdressing apprenticeship.
As we move into 2024. We plan to deliver more workshops to both secondary and primary throughout the academic year in various schools across the region and pupils will be invited to attend through their Teachers of the Deaf. While not all schools will be able to attend all workshops, it is hoped that timings and locations will coincide to allow pupils to join us for some of our Workshops. The workshops will allow pupils to meet other D/deaf school children and role models, learn useful skills in relation to their deafness and help develop their confidence and resilience.
