Our Young Leaders

Charlotte

Hi! My name is Charlotte and I wear cochlear implants. I use speech but do use British sign language to communicate.

I have volunteered as a Young Leader because I am passionate about the Deaf Community and hope to be a role model to deaf children and support them in any way I can. I am looking forward to the opportunity to connect within the Deaf Community and meet new people. My personal interests are spending time with my animals, dog walking and attending concerts.  My hope for the future is to travel abroad independently, meet new people and attend more concerts and events.

Kaden

Hello! My name is Kaden. I was born hearing and have deaf parents and siblings, so I have grown up learning sign language and enjoy going to deaf camps. I decided to volunteer as a Young Leader to gain more experience of working with deaf children because I would like to be a Teacher of Deaf Children in the future and help make a difference. I'm really looking forward to meeting new people and helping everyone to have loads of fun. I also absolutely love to play rugby and hope that I can do some coaching for deaf rugby one day.

Mqhele

Hi! I'm Mqhele. I have joined the Young Leaders because I want to help younger people. I hope to inspire them, ready for their futures. I use cochlear implants and you both speech and sign language to communicate. As a Young Leader I hope to get involved with lots of different activities and to develop my skills as a leader. When I'm not volunteering I love screen acting, fitness, sports and arts.

Gargi

Hey! I'm Gargi. I am Deaf and use bilateral cochlear implants to help with hearing. My main methods of communication are lipreading, listening, and speech, which I've worked hard to develop. I have volunteered as a Young Leader to advocate for better accessibility and to support others navigating similar experiences. I'm excited to meet people who share similar experiences and to make a positive impact. In my own time, I enjoy poetry, painting and dance. In the future, I hope to combine my passions for design and healthcare to create products that will positively impact people's lives.

Molly

Hi! I'm Molly. I wear hearing aids, and use mainly speech, however I am learning British Sign Language. I have volunteered as a Young Leader with Hear Together because I would like to become more involved in the Deaf community and gain experience with D/deaf children, as well as meet like-minded young people that share my enthusiasm for volunteering. As a Young Leader, I am most looking forward to honing my skills in things such as communication, initiative and teamwork. But, of course, I am looking forward to getting involved with the children and having fun! In the future, I would like to become a primary school teacher or a Teacher of the Deaf. Currently I am involved with the Scouts as a young person and a volunteer. I am also an avid Formula One fan and enjoy reading in my spare time.
